
| Tohatsu Runpet CR50 Tohatsu is a Japanese manufacturer, which started out making two stroke outboard motors in the 1950’s. In the early 1960’s they manufactured a number of small displacement motorcycles. The Runpet CR50 was a racing version of their street bike. This model is based on the Gunze Sangyo high tech kit. Based on photos I found online, there were a number of corrections needed to make the model more accurate, particularly the footpeg mounting system. Base Kit(s): Gunze Sangyo Tohatsu Runpet CR50 (kit number G632) Finished: Sep 2017 Modifications/Additions: - spoke nipples made from thin walled aluminum tube - machined wheel hubs (cooling ridges) and added tire valves - scratchbuilt tachometer and front number plate bracket - added Top Studio throttle cable - replaced front fork with metal rod and hand wound spring - machined aluminum intake trumpet and brass screen - reworked engine and rear fender mounts to match real bike - scratchbuilt footpeg brackets - scratchbuilt rear number plates and bracket - scratchbuilt rear shocks - replacement of bolt heads Meng styrene versions - axles and swingarm bolts replaced with 00-90 metal - various Alclad paints, frame and tank is Tamiya TS-23 Light Blue Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image.
