| Honda CBR400F After building the The January 2015 24 hour build event, organized by various groups around North America, was the inspiration for this model. Although I didn't completely finish the model in 24 hours, due to decal issues, it was still an enjoyable event. It also allowed me to be the first to finish our 2012 club challenge build - a white model. Details of the 24 hour build event are here. Base Kit(s): Tamiya Honda MVX250F (kit number 14023) Finished: Feb 2012 Modifications/Additions: - opened up vents on fairing and added screening - Testor's clear decal spray managed to save the 20+ year old decals so that they would come off the paper in one piece - bare metal foil behind turn signals - paint is Tamiya silver lacquer on the frame, black acylics elsewhere, Krylon white for plastic on bodywork Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image. | Honda CBR400F After building the Yamaha FZ250 Phazer, I got inspired to do some more 'White motorcycles with blue stripes" and had this model in my collection (no idea where it came from). Covering the 20+ year old decal sheet with one coat of Krylon acrylic clear was enough to get them off in one piece. Tamiya makes a version with a full fairing, which I think is prettier than this version. Base Kit(s): Tamiya Honda CBR400F (kit number 14035) Finished: Feb 2016 Modifications/Additions: - drilled out holes on the frame, near the steering head - drilled out ventilation holes on all three brake disks - bare metal foil behind all turn signals and taillight - mufflers painted with Tamiya gloss black lacquer, airbrushed, followed by Alclad polished aluminum - paint is Tamiya silver lacquer on the frame, black acylics elsewhere, airbrushed. Tamiya pure white on the bodywork, straight from the can. Click on Thumbnail to see detailed image.
